An annual dinner recognized a local civil servant and a milestone.

The 100th annual Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce's dinner brought together local business owners and leaders.

This year the chamber presented its Paul Goodloe McIntire Citizenship Award to Cole Hendrix. Hendrix served as Charlottesville's City Manager for 25 years, helped create the pedestrian-friendly Downtown Mall, and collaborations between the city, county, and UVa, among many other jobs and achievements.

"It's a very humbling experience because it's a very prestigious award in this community and I just feel very honored to to be the recipient of it tonight," said Hendrix.

"My family's here tonight to see it and that's a big thing for me because my family's very important in my life," Hendrix added. "It's just a grand evening."

The Chamber presented Piedmont Virginia Community College president Frank Friedman with a check for $50,000 to start a scholarship fund at PVCC.

Former Governor of Florida and and U.S. Senator Robert Graham spoke.

The dinner took place at the Boar's Head Inn in Albemarle County.
