Va. Boy Drowns After Falling into Potomac River Tributary

August 23, 2010

Authorities say a 3-year-old boy has drowned after falling into a tributary of the Potomac River.

U.S. Park Police spokesman Sgt. David Schlosser says the boy's family was picnicking and fishing along Pimmit Run, a Potomac River tributary near Chain Bridge Road in Arlington, Va., on Sunday afternoon when he fell into the water.

Schlosser says Arlington County Fire & Rescue crews pulled the boy from the water and he was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

U.S. Park Police are investigating.
