Charges Dropped in Accidental Shooting

Charges have been dismissed in the tragic case of a 14-year-old Charlottesville boy who accidentally shot and killed his teenager sister.

In February of this year the boy, his sister and another teen friend were handling a gun. Reportedly, when Jeneal Robinson attempted to take the gun from his sister, it fired into her abdomen, killing her.

The original charge of involuntary manslaughter had been reduced to reckless handling of a firearm, and Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Elizabeth Killeen has confirmed that there will be no conviction for this charge.

The boy's good behavior and young age have been cited as the reasons for the dismissal.
