Trooper Acted In Self Defense In Fatal Shooting Of Driver

November 21, 2007

(AP) Virginia State Police say a trooper who fatally shot a driver in Stafford County acted in self defense.

Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says investigators reviewed the dashboard videotapes and witnesses accounts with Stafford Commonwealth's Attorney Dan Chichester before making the
determination.

Trooper C.W. Keesling shot 41-year-old Marc Greenberg of North Stafford during a traffic stop Sunday. Geller says as Keesling was
getting out of his car, Greenberg's Ford Taurus continued forward
pinning and crushing the trooper.

The 27-year-old trooper then fired multiple times at Greenberg.
