Locals Line Up to Be the Next Survivor

From as far as Massanutten, people lined up for hours for the chance to be the next Survivor.

A Charlottesville high school football coach said he had five reasons to try out. “Money, money, money, money, and money.”

Claire Rannigan's husband was first in line. Rannigan from Earlysville said her husband drove by station on Friday night to see if he needed to camp out in order to secure his wife a spot.

But Rannigan said, “No one was foolish enough to do that.”

Most everyone in line agreed they had what it takes to outsmart their opponents and take home the million dollars.

Andy Zeeman of Charlottesville said, “I played rugby and if I can handle seven guys with no teeth, I can handle survivor.”

Craig Conboy of Charlottesville said he was here to show all the grand parents and his grandchildren that you can accomplish anything at any age.

Each candidate was given two minutes to impress the survivor casting directors. Jamie Cattano of Charlottesville smeared glitter across her face. Maureen Hegarty showed off wiggling her ears and doing a hand stand.

Everyone who tried out this weekend will know in March if they make it to the next round.
