RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A company that will manufacture and refurbish molds used to make tires is planning to open a plant in Danville, creating 120 jobs.

Gov. Bob McDonnell says North American Mold Technology plans to invest $4.35 million for the project.

The new company will assemble and repair tire molds at its 260,000-square-foot facility and provide other tire mold support services to the tire manufacturers in the U.S. and several other countries.

McDonnell approved a $250,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund for the project. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission approved $520,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds.

Area officials say that programs at Danville Community College and Pittsylvania County Schools are preparing local students for work in the field that could lead to jobs with the company.
