A writer who interviewed Abu Ghirab Iraqi prisoners recently spoke at UVa's Miller Center. From over 60 hours of interviews, he believes the abuse is a known tactic that continued after the scandal broke.

"That's when the sexual abuse began," he recalled from his subjects' accounts. "Well, it was really harassment. There were fingers placed in places people wouldn't welcome. This is a systematized thing. Either people up high know, or they are incompetent and we can give them their choice."

Webster spoke to a full room which included several in the military. He said he supports the military, but questions what point the U.S. has come to that they have to resort to such tactics.

You can read Webster's article in 'Vanity Fair' on shelves now.
