There were 150 people who came out to the Belmont Neighborhood Safety Meeting on Monday, January 31st.
Belmont residents say one crime in their area is too many. They gathered at the Clark School to learn how to prevent it.
Several speakers came forward including a representative from the Sexual Assault Resource Agency and the Charlottesville Police, in an effort to help neighbors feel safer.
A representative from S.A.R.A, or Sexual Assault Resource Agency discussed a few sexual assault facts and myths.
The Charlottesville Police gave crime tips and the Belmont Neighborhood Association encouraged people to get involved.
In the end, residents of Belmont were reminded of why it's so important for neighbors to stick together.
"Neighbors helping neighbors, remember when we knew everyone that lived on our street," said Lt. Dean.
