Virginia's House of Delegates tentatively approved “The fetal pain relief bill.”
The legislation would require doctors to anesthetize any fetus at least 20 weeks old before aborting it.
The bill advanced on an unrecorded show of hands and will be on the calendar for a final House vote Friday.
The bill is similar to one passed by the House and killed in Senate committee last year; that bill applied to fetuses at least 12 weeks old.
