The 19th Annual Toy Lift was a success and Saturday volunteers got together to sort all those toys.
Eight-thousand toys, 9,000 books and 300 bicycles will be headed to kids at 51 schools across the area. Toy Lift organizers say they were able to reach their goals thanks to some generous monetary donations as well as hundreds of volunteers.
"It's such a cool community thing to see everybody pull together," said Kids Lift Foundation President Cindy Payne. "A lot of the volunteers who are here today are school teachers and they're people who know these kids and...they know how to pick out toys that that kid's going to like."
If you didn't get a chance to deliver your toys Friday or have some that you'd like to give, they say you can still donate. Just call (434) 975-TOYS.
