Attempted Abduction at Fashion Square Mall

An abduction attempt near the Fashion Square Mall has police on a manhunt at this time. Albemarle County Police are actively working the case.

In broad daylight, during the early afternoon, Albemarle County Police received a call that someone was being abducted.

According to police, it happened around 2 o'clock on the east side of Fashion Square Mall just outside of the Belk's department store. A woman walking to her car was approached by a man who tried to force her into her own car. The woman screamed causing people in the parking lot to notice what was taking place which allowed her to break free.

Police say according to witnesses at the mall, the man ran towards the Squire Hill Apartments nearby while covering his face.

The woman wasn't injured and was able to give a partial description of the man to police. The man is described as:

- An adult black male
- 5 feet 9 inches tall with an unknown weight
- Wearing a black hooded shirt
- Wearing dark pants

Police say to give information about the suspect, they do not have to know who you are, only that you have some knowledge about the suspect.
