Best Deals on Gas

Gas prices have been steadily climbing in Virginia over the past month.

AAA Mid Atlantic says the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $1.83 in Virginia. That's nine cents higher than mid-January. The national average price is $1.89 per gallon.

The average in the Mid-Atlantic portion of the country is $1.91. Although prices are up, Virginia ranks 11th among the states in terms of cheapest average gas prices. The average price at the pump in Charlottesville is still $1.84. That puts it a cent above the state average.

If you want to get a bargain while filling up, CBS19 and ABC16 want to help. Here are our findings for more inexpensive gas prices:

Several stations are offering $1.75 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas. You can go to ETNA and Chevron on Rio road in Greenbrier and East Coast and Chevron near Fashion Square Mall on Route 29.

If you have a Kroger card you can get 3 cents off your gas when filling up on Emmett Street, which drops the price to $1.74.
