Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville are developing a plan for consultants to see if it would be efficient and cost-effective to consolidate fire, and possibly rescue services.
The County and City currently operate under a shared service agreement. But as the community continues to grow, there will be new and increased demands for the overall fire response system.
A cooperative study will assess the important long-term factors to see if a consolidation is workable.
