Brett Ferguson is a former teacher from the North Side Ministries' Albemarle Christian Academy on East Rio Road. He has been indicted on five counts of aggravated sexual battery of a minor. This indictment reportedly stems from sexual abuse offenses of a boy four years ago.
School officials say Ferguson left the academy in May of 2000, and there were never any concerns or complaints about him having improper relations with students.
Police would not comment on the case, except to say their investigation is ongoing.
Ferguson is currently being held without bond at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail. His trial date has tentatively been set for May.
