The Rivanna Conservation Society held a meeting Thursday, March 3rd, to present their completed engineering study in order to see if it is feasible to remove the Woolen Mills dam.
Removal of the dam would allow migratory fish to access the Rivanna River freely.
It would also greatly improve river safety and create more recreational opportunities for local residents.
Officials said the dam is not of any use anymore but some are concerned about preserving the historic value of the dam.
The next step for the Rivanna Conservation Society is to raise the money to breach the dam.
