In order to get promoted, it never hurts to be a teamplayer, always be positive, embrace change and suggest ideas or improvements to your boss.
You can also bring attention to your accomplishments without being a brownnose, says Joyce Robbins, President of Adams and Garth Staffing company. "You can do it in a subtle way so that you don't look like a brownnoser, but people don't know that you won't be recognized if there isn't information out there that shows you do a good job."
It's also important to ask your employer about taking classes to further your education or get certified in something. In addition, be sure to keep a planner and manage your time efficiently. Also, accept any leadership roles, no matter how small, to show your boss you can do it.
If you do all these things and still haven't been promoted, "Ask for an appointment, schedule an appointment and go in their and discuss your career. Ask your boss, 'what can I do better?' You can also ask for a mentor."
