Route 15 in Fluvanna County was the scene of a two car collision Saturday after a driver fled from police and caused the wreck.
Peter Dodge led Fluvanna Police on a chase and is under arrest, facing felony charges for eluding the police and driving drunk.
Law enforcement is crediting the callers who reported that driver with keeping a bad situation from getting worse. The Fluvanna 911 center received several calls about the driver a Porsche.
"The information from the callers was that he was reckless and appeared to be impaired," said Captain Mason Byrd of the Fluvanna County Sheriff Dept.
A deputy with Fluvanna Sheriff's Department found Dodge's Porsche, stopped on the side of the road on Route 15 near Hunters Lodge Road.
The deputy approached the Porsche and that's when the driver fled the scene. Seconds later, the Porsche tried to pass a Toyota, but cut it too close.
The two cars collided, the Toyota flipped, and the four passengers inside were trapped. Two of the passengers in the Toyota were taken to the hospital.
The sheriff's department says their injuries appeared to be minor and expects everyone involved to be fine.
"If somebody sees someone that is driving recklessly and possibly impaired, please call 911 and we will send state police or local law enforcement to check on that driver," said Captain Byrd.
The accident shut down Route 15 Saturday afternoon, but both lanes are now open.
