A new traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of Route 250/Richmond Road and Route 22/Louisa Road, east of Pantops.
The light at Shadwell will begin flashing on Thursday and will begin operating on Monday. Signal technicians from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will switch the signal to full-cycle operation after the morning peak traffic volume on Monday.
The signal is being installed as part of the realignment of the intersection to improve safety and provide a new entrance to the Luck Stone Corp. quarry just south of the intersection. The intersection improvement project was a cooperative effort between VDOT, Albemarle County and Luck Stone Corp.
The signal is being activated in flashing mode for several days before beginning operation on Monday to alert drivers to the new traffic control at the intersection.

Well, that won't be an issue for the next few months when the bridge is closed. They need to install a light at Hunt Club rd at the tracks to help with the huge amt of traffic that will be seen there. I believe there will be an additional light placed for the 22 traffic in the future, no need for it now when that will be the ONLY lane going westbound.
I agree with you. The problem is the traffic coming off Route 22 and yet they do nothing about that.
This traffic light isn't going to stop the traffic coming off Route 22 from ignoring the YIELD sign. The majority of people speed up and cut in front of the cars on Route 250. There have been times that the person on 250 is forced into the turn lane to avoid an accident. Dangerous no matter what time of day/night one goes through that intersection!
