A traffic accident on Interstate 64 in Louisa County closed both westbound lanes near the Ferncliff Exit on Monday, March 28. The wreck had traffic bumper to bumper.

Virginia State Police said a Chevrolet pickup was towing a 35 foot travel trailer when it started to sway. The truck overturned and all of its contents spewed over the road.

"When the trailer overturned, it completely overturned and so when the travel trailer hit the road it kind of disintegrated," said Trooper Frey of Virginia State Police.

Traffic was backed up for five hours and at least a mile and a half of the Interstate was shut down. The vehicles heading west were rerouted off I-64 at exit 143.

Police were able to get it cleaned up before the 5 p.m. rush hour.
