An adult male crashed his car into the side of Charlie Mason's house at 701 Orange Dale Avenue near Forest Hills Park on Tuesday, April 12. The vehicle cut-out a hole in his living room, which also impacted the dining room.

"It's a good thing I wasn't home, I always sit there in that sofa watching TV, and if I had been watching TV at the time, I probably wouldn't be here," said resident Charlie Mason.

A witness said he could hear the tires screeching down the road and saw the car first strike a mailbox and tree before hitting the house. The witness said the driver then exited the vehicle, asking who's house it was.

"He looked like he was shocked because he had a cut on this side [of his face]," said witness Rahein Turner.

The man apparently tried to back-up his car before giving up and waiting for officials to arrive. It is unclear whether he was conscious when they arrived or not.

"By his statement, he was treated earlier at UVa and released and he doesn't even recall how he got to this street," said Charles Gardner of the Charlottesville Police Department.

One neighbor in particular sited her safety concerns of the road.

"We really need speed bumps over here before someone gets seriously hurt... This house just had a car run into it, so as you can see we really need speed bumps over here," said neighbor Rita Webb.

The drivers was taken UVa medical center, but police have not said if he has been released. He has not been charged with anything yet, but his license has been suspended.
