McIntire School Of Commerce Breaks Ground On Lawn

Video will be available shortly.

April 15, 2005

The University of Virginia President John Casteen was on hand Friday, April 15 for the ground breaking ceremony of the University's newest addition.

The $50 million project involves adding a 156,000 square foot addition on the southeast end of the lawn. Six pavilions surrounding a courtyard will also be built and will be used for outdoor classes and conferences.

The McIntire School of Commerce will relocate into the building once it is completed in August. Casteen hopes the building's new architectural design and location will help promote interaction between students and visitors. "It will bring in people from outside the University, to be part of the faculty conversation, but also to make contributions to the national discussion on matters that important," he said at Friday's ceremony.

Two classrooms in the new building will also be used by the College of Arts and Sciences
