Albemarle County Board Supervisor Sally Thomas announced that she will run for reelection.
If reelected, this will be Thomas' fourth term as a representative for the Samuel Miller district.
Thomas applauded the board's fiscal responsibility, efforts to preserve land and successes in education; however, she said there was room for improvement in the area of cohesion.
"I think we are a very divided board, and that sends mixed messages to the community. I think that we need to do all we can to make ourselves more clear to the community as to the direction we are taking, particularly in land use situations. I think this will make [Albemarle County] a better place to live," Thomas said.
Thomas added she will remain an independent. David Bowerman and Chair Dennis Rooker's seats are also up for election this fall.
