The stabbing on Friday happened shortly after Buford Middle School let out. Two 14 year old males began fighting near the corner of 9th Street South West and Cherry Avenue. One of the teens pulled out a knife and stabbed the other 3 times in the back.
The victim ran into a home on 9th and Grove. An ambulance was called and the boy was taken to the hospital. Then, police were on the hunt for the teenager that stabbed him, as well as the weapon.
"We had the description and a name on the suspect. We knew he walked off we just didn't know where. An officer then actually saw the suspect walking and took him into custody and as they started looking around the area where he was detained we found the knife under the back of a car 25 or 30 feet away where he had dropped it just prior to the officer seeing him," said Lt. Gary Pleasants, of the Charlottesville Police Department.
The boy is in stable condition at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Police said the suspect is being charged with malicious wounding.
