Local law enforcement is literally fighting to make you safer.
Charlottesville Police is teaming up with the Victim Witness Assistance program and the ACAC to teach self-defense. This program is called Rape Awareness Defense, or RAD, which is aimed at teaching defense skills.

"We are giving people the confidence and sense of awareness that's necessary to do a good job to protect yourselves in a critical situation, where time is of the essence. You can't plan for these things," said Charlottesville Police Chief Tim Longo.

The six week classes will be held on Tuesdays and begin on May 17th. You can pre-register at 970-3176.
