The race is on to find the next school superintendent. Charlottesville City Council put together a School Advisory Commission of nine people with educational interests to find the right person for the job.

Their goal is to hire someone before the beginning of the next school year, but if they can't a City Councilor said the committee will get more of the community involved in the process.

"I think regardless of whether we go with the short process or the long process the school board will be able to make use of this committee as a sounding board, as a source of advise, and as a liaison to the wider community," said Kevin Lynch, a City Council member.

The reason for the search is due to former superintendent Scottie Griffin resigning almost a month ago, under much controversy.
