The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band the Rolling Stones are set to play Scott Stadium on October 6, 2005.

The announcement came during a press at the University where Leonard Sandridge, Executive Vice President of the University of Virginia, said, "This seemed to be one of those ideal opportunities that we couldn’t pass up." He also added, "We saw it as a very logical kick off... meeting the needs of the local community and the University at the same time."

Rolling Stones Spokesman,Tres Thomas, said the group was looking for new adventures. They are trying to play venues and cities that they have never been before.

"I think that Charlottesville's got such a broad demographic of people and cultures," said Thomas. "It marks up on the top of the list of places we wanted to try."

Tickets to the event are going on sale starting May 20, 2005.
