The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority officially has a 2006 budget. The board passed the budget on their waste and water rates.
The rate the authority charges trash companies rose $5 per ton for municipal solid waste. Regarding water, the fee for the city went up over three percent. In Albemarle, it increased over six percent. However, Rivanna officials are not sure how this would effect residents, since the city and county determined what to charge.
"There's not a direct relationship between what it costs us and what the ratepayer would end up paying, but obviously it's a component of their budgets as well so there is some influence," said RSWA executive director, Tom Frederick.
Those Rivanna Solid Waste Authority fees are set to go into effect July 1.
