Hollymead Elementary School has a new $1.4 million gym facility. Wednesday marked the gym's grand opening, and school officials feel the new facility is long overdue.
"We've easily outgrown our facility long ago in terms of being able to have the YMCA for basketball and other community groups,” says Principal Carole Hastings. "We're very, very fortunate to have this lovely gym be strictly used for physical education and community events.”
Hollymead Elementary is about 30 years old and school officials say they've been planning for the gym for about 10 years now.
