It seems like the newly renovated Paramount Theatre just opened their doors, but today they announced the lineup for the 2005-2006 season.
Behind the curtain at the Paramount Theater, the green room is actually green and the walls are covered with signatures from last season's guests. So who will make their mark this season?
The answer is, something for everyone.
"The thing we try for here at the Paramount is to have a wide variety of performances. We are offering anything from family entertainment to jazz to bluegrass to movies to big name entertainers. It's truly the whole gammit," said the Paramount's Executive Director, Chad Hershner.
The season kicks off September 10 with Hall and Oates and is followed by such acts as the Temptations, the Pink Floyd Experience, and even Willy Wonka.
And these shows are not even the ones expected to sell out the quickest.
"We definitely think that Bill Cosby is going to be extremely popular, also Yo-Yo Ma. Vince Gill I think is going to be extremely popular and also Hall and Oates," said Hershner.
The debut season had thirty-two shows, eighteen of which were completely sold out. This season will feature forty-six performances, a few performances traveling all the way from Russia and South Africa.
The star studded line-up and the success of the debut season leads the Hershner to believe this season will be a true encore.
"I think people have gotten into the habit of going to the Paramount for great entertainment and with the shows we're offering for next season, I think even more people will come," Hershner explained.
Tickets go on sale for members July 25, and for the general public August 15. To see the whole line-up, log onto www.theparamount.net or call 434-979-1333.
