Pedestrian Struck

Video will be available shortly.

June 24, 2005

Charlottesville Police are investigating the case of a pedestrian struck by a car.

The call came out around 9:30 p.m. for a pedestrian struck in the 1200 block of East Market Street. When officers arrived they found a 30-year-old Charlottesville resident suffering from severe lacerations to the leg. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 73-year-old driver was uninjured in the accident. Eyewitnesses tell police the man was walking down the middle of the road with headphones on while dancing around. The car struck him, sending him onto the car, over the windshield, and onto the ground.

At this time, police believe the accident was pedestrian error and no charges will be filed against the driver of the car.
