With elections just three months away, one Albemarle County Supervisor is taking her campaign to local neighborhoods. Sally Thomas has served on the board for the past 12 years and though she's running unopposed she's still hitting doorstep after doorstep. The surprise visits usually spark conversations ranging from population growth to water issues. Thomas says it's a great way to get feedback from people who aren't always able to attend the board meetings.
"I learn what their concerns are, I get revalidated in what I think their concerns are, and then I find out if that really is what they're interested in," said Thomas.
"It's such a personal touch and it shows a concern about what is going on in a particular area," said Blanche Berman, an Albemarle County Resident.
Thomas plans to continue going door to door for as long as she's on the board.
