This morning CBS19 and ABC16 News completed a milestone, successfully launching our morning show. Here is a behind-the-scenes look at our new two-hour morning newscast.
"5, 4, 3, 2...," Jorma Tuomisto, the director of Good Morning Charlottesville, commanded.
While many of you were sleeping, many of us at the Newsplex, were working on Charlottesville's newest morning show.
"We've been on the air, we know all the systems work, and it just is a terrific feeling," said News Director Jeremy Settle.
Friday morning brought the launch of "Good Morning Charlottesville."
"The last 10 months have just been a blur. They've gone by so fast, and I'm just amazed at how fast we've been able to grow," Settle added.
Just as the sun began to rise, some viewers in the Charlottesville area, woke up to a brand new news show. Scheduled to debut on Monday, most of us here just couldn't wait to get on the air, so we started today.
"I'm very surprised at how everybody is so chipper at coming in at midnight, and three o'clock in the morning. Everyone is just really excited," said Whitney Holmes, co-anchor of Good Morning Charlottesville.
"It's exciting to be a part of the team that started this program. Whitney and I get along great, and have a lot of fun doing that," said Bo Sykes, co-anchor of Good Morning Charlottesville.
After four months of planning, and weeks of rehearsing for a successful launch, the show is finally here.
"LIVE from the Newsplex, you're watching Good Morning Charlottesville...," the announcer says.
Along with the community, the news team will enjoy it, too. What about their schedules?
"To describe the schedule, I would just say torture, but it's worth it," said Sykes.
"I'm wide awake, chipper, and ready to go," Holmes countered.
