Albemarle County Police Speed Enforcement Operation
Tuesday Albemarle County Police conducted a speed enforcement operation along the route 29/250 bypass between Ivy road and Fontaine Avenue. 104 tickets were given out to 92 drivers.

Tuesday Albemarle County Police conducted a speed enforcement operation along the route 29/250 bypass between Ivy road and Fontaine Avenue. 104 tickets were given out to 92 drivers.
The operation was conducted from 1pm to 7:30pm. Of the 104 summonses issued, 79 were for speeding, 3 for seat belt violations, 3 for drivers having a suspended license, 2 for inspection related violations, 2 for drivers having a suspended license, 2 for drivers having no license in their possession, and 1 driver for having an expired license.
The fastest speed recorded was 86 mph. Officials say that speeding continues to be a problem along area highways and that they do plan on having additional speed enforcement operations in the future.
