It's ranked number one on the list and the 1999 Acura Integra is the car thieves most want to get their hands on. But according to Cathy Seymour, Owner of The Import Car Store, dependability isn't why.
"Young kids are purchasing those, fixing them up, putting on the mufflers, the wheels, the spoilers, putting the trim-kits on them and then they are being stolen," said Seymour.
A recent report released by insurance tracker CCC information Services, Inc. shows other cars making the top ten were also likely the target of street racers. Last year, one out of every 200 1999 Acura Integras were stolen. In fact, Integra's from other model years showed up five times on the list of top 10, but Seymour says there are simple ways to keep thieves away.
"Most of the cars now come with an alarm system that's already built into the cars, it they don't that is something that they can have put on, they can make sure that their cars are locked make sure that their keys are secured," said Seymour.
Still, there's no sure way to safeguard what most people rely on everyday.
