Candidates for the Albemarle County Board of Education met tonight to discuss their campaigns.
The three candidates are Jon Stokes from the Samuel Miller District, Diantha McKeel from the Jack Jouett District, and Pam Moynihan from the Rio District. All three are running unopposed.
Both Stokes and McKeel spoke to members of the community at Jack Jouett Middle School. Both spoke about the reasons they want to be a School Board Member. Moynihan was unable to attend because of a death in the family.
The forum provided a chance for voters to get to know the candidates.
"You have to have an educated populous and the way to do that is public education," McKeel said.
"I have an interest in education. I have the leadership skills, the analytical skills, the excitement and the energy to bring to the School Board," said Stokes.
The League of Women Voters sponsored this community forum.
