Superintendent Candidates Confidential?

The Charlottesville School Board must resolve the issue of confidentiality before the search for the next superintendent can continue.

They held a meeting tonight to decide if the potential candidates information should be made public. Consultants from HYA said the more open the process, the fewer applications they will receive. Sitting superintendents might be unwilling to risk their current positions through the open process. Although more information would help the board make an informed decision.

"How can we maintain their confidentiality as much as possible but still get some input from some other...people beyond just the board," said Peggy Van Yahres, a Charlottesville School Board member.

The school board agreed upon some community involvement in the final stages of the search.
