A pediatrician accused of trying to kill his baby was back in court today. Wednesday marked day two for Dr. Iain Gainov who is standing trial for attempted murder.
Today the prosecution called several doctors to the stand hoping to prove that baby Megan's injuries were not accidental and instead were the result of ongoing abuse.
The trial stems from three incidents where little Megan had to be treated at the hospital. Prosecutors suggested that the father Iain Gainov gave conflicting stories when asked about the events surrounding the incidents.
Gainov has maintained he's innocent and the incidents were accidental. One doctor today testified that one incident involving a skull fracture could've come from Megan falling off the couch as Gainov said, but the doctor also stated that he did not think it was likely.
Gainov's wife was expected to testify today, but her testimony has been rescheduled for Thursday. She is a witness for the prosecution.
If Gainov is convicted he could face life in prison.
