Democratic candidate Steve Koleszar spoke about his run against Delegate Rob Bell for the 58th district seat in the House of Delegates.

Koleszar cited the need for the state to fully fund education. He said the state needs to change its current funding plan, which leaves it constantly playing catch-up. The plan, as it stands, apportions funds based on a county's ability to pay.

Koleszar also said the state was in a transportation crisis, in which "we could not pave ourselves out." He cited rail service, including commuter and freight, as a way to help remedy the crisis.

The candidate also said he does not support capital punishment, rather he supports alternative punishments for non-violent offenders that save money and reduce recidivism, such as drug courts.

Koleszar is running against Republican Rob Bell, who will also be a guest on Good Morning Charlottesville.
