Two Convenient Stores Robbed

Video will be available shortly.

October 17, 2005

Police in Charlottesville and Albemarle County are investigating two separate convenience store robberies. They happened less than 24 hours apart, and now authorities are looking into a possible link.

The first robbery took place at Exxon's, the Market at Mill Creek, near Avon Ext. in Albemarle County around 9 p.m. on Sunday. Police say that suspect walked into the store just before it was scheduled to close. When the suspect approached the cashier with a soft drink in his hand, he demanded the clerk to give him the money that was in the register.

The second robbery happened around 6 a.m. on Monday, at the Costal Gas Station on Harris Street. A man walked into the store and took money out of the register. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from both locations.

Both Charlottesville and Albemarle County are saying that a link between the two doesn't look likely.

"Anytime we have a serious case like this, we're in contact with our counterparts in the city police department," said Lt. John Teixeira of the Albemarle County Police Department. "So far we haven't seen any major similarities to either offense."

Both suspects in the robberies are said to be black males. One of the suspects was last seen leaving the scene of Sunday night's robbery in a dark, possibly blue, station wagon.

If you know anything about these robberies police ask you to call Crimestoppers at 434-977-4000.
