An Albemarle County police officer accused of a domestic assault was in court Monday for a first hearing.
Alan Reid was appointed by council today and a special prosecutor has been appointed to try the case.
Reid is a six-year veteran of the Albemarle County Police Department and a school resource officer for Albemarle High School.
He was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting his wife. He is now on administrative leave from the department.
