Albemarle County schools are in the top 10 percent in the state and in the nation.

This afternoon the Albemarle County school board met with the county board of supervisors to help make sure it stays that way.

The county got a chance to review a new teacher compensation study.

Over the last two years, the county has made sure its teacher's pay stays competitive with similar school systems.

"The study shows we are still meeting that and gives us an indication of the kind of employee raises needed in order to maintain objectives," said Dennis Rooker, Chairman of the Albemarle County board of supervisors.

The county's goal is to keep salaries at a level that will maintain good employees and attract more qualified teachers.
