A Grottoes family is morning the loss of their 19-year-old Marine who was killed in Iraq. Marine Lance Cpl. Daniel Bubb was one of two Marines killed near the Jordanian border.

"He always wanted to be a soldier," said Daniel Bubb's Grandmother.

Bubb's Mom, Janey Harrah, signed him up for the military on his 17th birthday. "That's all he wanted, nothing else for his birthday. I could have gotten him a million dollar car if I had the money, no he wanted that," said Janey.

It was almost three years to the day when his Aunt Julie received the last phone call. "He said I love you and I said I love you and he said bye Julie and three hours later he was gone," said Julie Bubb.

Marine Lance Cpl. Daniel Bubb was killed near the Jordanian border on Sunday October 16. His family said he died doing what he loved.

"We couldn't talk him out of going, he loved it and he said he's fighting for a cause," said Julie.

"I know everyone's sad because he died and all that but he died for his own freedom," said Justin Harrah, Daniel's brother.

Bubb leaves behind a precious memory to one of the many people he loved. "He leaned over and touched me on the ear with his lips and he said Mamaw you know you're special and I love you very much and that's probably the most special," said Bubb's grandmother.

Despite Daniel's death his youngest brother still wants to join the Marines. "I just want to fight for him like he fought for everyone," said Justin.

The family said they will have a funeral for Bubb when his remains are brought back to the United States. Bubb was also the second Marine from the Staunton area killed in combat in Iraq.

According to the family, both Jason Redifer and Daniel Bubb were in the same battalion and when they were attacked back in January Daniel was one of the Marines that tried to save Jason's life.
