The Salvation Army is taking their familiar Christmas kettle bells one step further. Starting Wednesday, bell ringers will collect donations for hurricane Katrina victims at Fashion Square Mall. For every $100, the organization can provide food and various house supplies to a family of four. Already, they've assisted over 200,000 storm survivors.
"We have a lot of people who are telling their stories of family members and thanking--a lot of people are thanking us and just happy we are here and that we're able to do something and that they're able to do something by putting money in," said Ellen Popkin.
Bell ringers will be at the mall through September 17.
