After all the hype and hysteria, a bomb threat stopped the Rolling Stones from rolling tonight at Scott Stadium. In a matter of minutes, the band was rushed off the stage, mid-set. Earlier reports indicated that the bomb scare had UVA police evacuate the stage and the areas around it.
Officials at the University of Virginia confirm that a bomb threat was received into the city's 911 call center a little before 9:00 Thursday evening. The threat was specific to the concert stage at Scott Stadium.
Within minutes, Mick Jagger was alerted to the incident and announced the band would be taking a 10 minute break.
Police then used bomb sniffing dogs that were already on site to confirm that the area was indeed safe. A little over an hour later the concert resumed.
Fans inside the concert told the Charlottesville Newsplex that there was a sense of confusion and lack of communication as to what exactly was going on around the concert stage.
The band resumed the concert a little after 10:00 p.m. Thursday evening and played out their entire scheduled concert. The show ended around 12:30 a.m.
