Charlottesville Police are investigation the early Friday morning shooting that took place at 632 Ridge Street.
Police responded to a call that came in around 5:50 a.m. about a shooting. Once they arrived to the scene they found a 27-year-old male, who's name has not been released, shot in the abdomen.
The victim was taken to the University of Virginia hospital and his condition was considered serious. He underwent surgery and is said to be doing okay.
Police say they did find a .22 caliber shell at the scene and believe that is the weapon that was used in this shooting.
Residents in the neighborhood say they are still in shocked at what happened this morning.
"I was actually laying in my bed, then I heard his voice, said April Cobbs, friend of victim."It was like 'they got me, they got me,' and I was like 'Oh' my god.'"
Police say they do not have any leads as to who the shooter is in this incident, but they are actively continuing the investigation.
