Scary news for pet-lovers. There have been a series of attacks on animals in Fluvanna County. There are two confirmed reports of animal attacks within the same neighborhood just outside of Zion Crossroads--but it is unclear if they are related. The first one was the violent killing of five family cats.
One or more people ripped a screen door and let themselves into the closed porch where the cats lived. The two children of this family discovered one cat outside of their living area and the other four dead inside--all violently killed.
The furniture and litter-box were turned on their side. The family has since removed them, cleaned the room, and turned it into storage. They found the plants trampled outside and blood, however, it was unclear if it's human blood or from the cats. It is still an on-going investigation--so investigators asked the details be left out.
In the same neighborhood, the most recent attack was on a dog. The animal has a double compound fracture, from being whacked with an object.
Police have not linked the two incidents, but say this is a situation that should not be taken lightly.
