With just hours remaining until the polls open, both Tim Kaine and Jerry Kilgore pounded the pavement in search of any and all last minute votes.

Months of hard work has come down to a final few hours. Each Gubernatorial candidate made several stops today, in hopes of swaying those critical last minute voters. One place both candidates stopped, Richmond.

"Compared to the other regions of Virginia, where one candidate or the other seems to have the perceived advantage, Central Virginia does have a battleground feel to it," said Matt Smyth from the Center for Politics.

To prove central Virginia's importance, President George Bush stopped at Richmond International Airport on his way back from a trip to Panama.

"You can count on him. You know where he stands and you know he can get the job done," President Bush said.

The last minute campaigning is an effort to push voters to the polls. Smyth says that is important in an election that has no dominant issue.

"There is nothing that is going to really drive voters to the polls with one goal in mind. They are going in with a lot of different views on social issues and also economic issues," he said.

And when voters get to the polls, the Charlottesville City Voter's Registration office is making sure all goes smoothly. Recently statewide, people have received flyers and phone calls giving them incorrect information about polling places.

"For every voter in the city, we have their current registration information. If they have moved recently, if they have questions where they need to go to vote, give us a call," said Evan Smith.

If you voted last year in the Presidential Election, simply go back to where you went last year to vote. The exception is for those living in the JPA district who previously at Fry's Spring Beach Club. Those citizens must now report to the Carter Family Life Center at 1720 Cherry Ave.

If you have any questions, you can call the registrars office at 434-970-3250.
