State elections were certified Monday, with officials announcing Democrat Bob McDonnell as the winner of the attorney general. But Republican Creigh Deeds said it's not over yet.

The results from the November 8 elections were carted into the General Assembly Building in Richmond Monday. The certification most people had their eye on was the attorney general race between McDonnell and Deeds.

"Mr. McDonald received 970,886 votes. Mr. Deeds received 970,563," said chairman of the board of elections, Michael Brown.

With that starts Deeds' battle.

"Senator Deeds has great confidence in the integrity of the Virginia electoral process, but he like everyone, knows from past experience that human error does exist," said chairman of Virginia Victory 2005, Larry Framme.

Deeds' camp announced he will officially file for a recount of the votes, a decision many expected. However, those with McDonnell's campaign believe a recount is unnecessary.

"I think the numbers have been counted now three times. The votes were counted on election night, then there was the local electoral board canvassing process, then today the certification by the state board of elections. In each of those it was a close election, but Bob McDonnell led and won in each situation," said Randolph Beales, who is on the executive committee of McDonnell's transition team.

McDonnell's transition team also added that they're ready to move forward.

"We're confident that on January 14th he will be inaugurated as Attorney General of Virginia," said Beales.

Although the recount does not guarantee Deeds a win, his camp is sure of one thing.

"What we are confident of is that there will be even more changes in these numbers during the recount," said Framme.

Deeds is set to file that recount Tuesday Morning. The process will be supervised by a three-court panel.
