Being overweight carries several health risks, especially prostate cancer, so UVa's department of Urology sponsored a 4-mile run.

Exercise promotes awareness and gets people into shape. This year there were over 200 men who ran it--both from the University and the community.

"It's very dangerous. I think prostate cancer is the fifth leading cause of death for men and the second cause of cancer death and we're learning that it's preventable if you stay in shape, watch what you eat," said runner and organizer Bill Steers.

"We had a training program for this race. We had men that were not in exercise programs that were basically getting off the couch," said Sam LeBeau, runner and coordinator. "We put them through a 10 week training program and now these men are doing four miles."

Proceeds will go to prostate cancer research at Uva.
