The University of Virginia has announced the newest member of the Miller Center of Public Affairs.
UVA President John Casteen announced former Virginia Governor Gerald Baliles as the center's new director. Baliles served successfully as governor from 1986-1990 and made his mark in trade and economic development. The 65-year-old says he's looking forward to sharing his government expertise.
"I believe in doing my homework, I gather facts, I gather impressions, I gather together the options that are available, I focus like a laser beam and then I address the issues," said Baliles.
Baliles is a 1967 graduate of UVA's law school. He’ll begin his new position April 1, 2006.
